Invasive wasps vs indigenous wasps - know the difference!
Make sure you know the difference and do not harm our indigenous insects!
The two invasive wasps which are plagueing Cape Town residents look markedly different than the indigenous paper wasps and our local Cape honey bees.
Invasive wasps have a numerous negative effects on local fauna, including out-competing and, subsequently, displacing indigenous paper wasp species.
This is why the City of Cape Town Invasive Wasp Control Project targets invasive wasps only, even when requested otherwise.
Protect our indigenous wasp species as they are already under pressure from these European invaders.
